Álvaro Martín has been honored with the prestigious award for Best Master’s Thesis at the Álvaro Martín, a member of iTEAM, receives the award for Best Master’s Thesis at the Noche de las Telecomunicaciones Valencianas (NTV) for his work titled “Satellite Antennas for Air Traffic Control Systems.” His project, which can be accessed at this link, has demonstrated a notable advancement in the field of satellite communications.

Álvaro joined iTEAM during his internship at the Antennas and Propagation Lab (APL) and continued to develop his talent with his Bachelor’s Thesis (TFG) and later with his Master’s Thesis (TFM), both under the supervision of Miguel Ferrando Bataller. Currently, Álvaro is pursuing his doctoral thesis in the Antennas group, supervised by José Ignacio Herranz Herruzo.
Álvaro’s work focuses on the design of antennas for the company Startical, a collaborative project between Indra and Enaire, which aims to deploy a constellation of satellites to manage air traffic. Using a high-performance electromagnetic simulator, Álvaro has analyzed the feasibility of implementing various antennas in Startical’s nanosatellites. Additionally, to validate the simulation results, a prototype antenna based on two crossed dipoles has been manufactured.

Álvaro’s contribution stands out not only for its technological innovation but also for its practical application in improving the safety and efficiency of air traffic control on a global scale. This recognition at the Valencian Telecommunications Night underscores the impact and relevance of his work in advancing satellite telecommunications.
