Miguel Ferrando and Felipe Vico from the APL group participate in the IEEE Spain Annual Board Meeting

The Spanish Section of the IEEE held its annual meeting at the Hotel Puerta de Toledo in Madrid, as part of the IEEE Day events in Spain, which promote collaboration and technological advancement on a global scale. This gathering included the participation of chairs from various chapters and representatives from student branches, who presented their reports on the activities carried out throughout the year.

Among the highlights of the meeting was the emphasis on the importance of the IEEE Consultants Network, led by Miguel Ferrando-Rocher, Chair of the Consultants Network and member of the Antennas and Propagation Lab (APL) group at iTEAM of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). Ferrando-Rocher, who has driven collaboration and knowledge exchange among professionals and experts, stressed the need to strengthen ties with the industry and provide technical consultancy at both national and international levels.

Additionally, Felipe Vico, also a member of the Antennas and Propagation Lab (APL) group at iTEAM of UPV and Vice-Chair of the Consultants Network, committed to supporting and expanding consulting activities and promoting access to advanced technological resources among members. His work alongside Ferrando-Rocher aims to further consolidate this network as a benchmark for consulting on emerging technologies and innovative projects.

During the event, key reports were also presented from areas such as Membership, Communication, Awards, Education, and special interest groups like Women in Engineering (WIE), Young Professionals, and Humanitarian Tech. Furthermore, representatives from local chapters, including the Blockchain and Cybersecurity groups, shared their achievements and future projects, reinforcing IEEE’s role in the development and adoption of cutting-edge technologies.

This annual event, which fosters unity and collaboration among different chapters and student branches, has become a crucial forum for reflection and planning for the organization’s growth in Spain. The meeting concluded with an open Q&A session, where contributions were gathered to guide the next steps for IEEE Spain in its mission to advance technology for the benefit of humanity.
