ITEAM Researchers Develop Sensors to Improve the Efficiency of Energy-Generating Buoys

The Photonics Research Labs (PRL) group of the iTEAM at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) is participating in a project coordinated by RISE to develop fiber optic sensors for real-time monitoring of new buoy models from Minesto and CorPower.

These sensors optimize the design and enhance the efficiency of buoys in generating energy from ocean currents. The collaboration between RISE and CalSens in data integration and interpretation aims to refine future innovations in renewable energy.

Ensuring precise, real-time measurements is essential. Greater accuracy in real-time monitoring translates into better utilization of marine energy, thus driving the development of clean and sustainable energy sources.
