Description | The Multimedia Communications Group (COMM) of iTEAM was founded in 2004. Our area of expertise is multimedia content transmission over IP networks. We study and analyze the Quality of Service (QoS) and the Quality of Experience (QoE) of multimedia communications over IP networks. Our team members have presented quality research works on technologies such as Ad Hoc/MESH networks, AL-FEC encoding, Hybrid IPTV, 3D video encoding mechanisms, routing protocols over wireless environments and development based on open platforms (Arduino, Netduino, Raspberry) for home automation and energy efficiency environments.
The COMM group has in-depth knowledge of video services over IP networks, as the many publications of the group attest. Theoretical studies are put into practice in the laboratories and testbeds dedicated to developing of iTV and mobile applications over web and Android platforms, smart grid for the VoD service based on MPLS routers and embedded distributed processes, Ad- Hoc and Wireless Mesh Networks to provide emergency services in environments without infrastructure and development of multimedia applications on mobile devices to improve social inclusion and its application in the field of home teleassistance.
