Eva Antonino, New Director of iTEAM, Participates in the II Women’s Leadership Meeting by Levante-EMV

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Eva Antonino, Director of the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM) at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), attended the II Women’s Leadership Meeting organized by the newspaper Levante at the Ajuntament de València.

The second edition of the Women’s Leadership Meeting highlighted the need to continue addressing shared responsibility and visibility. The event brought together outstanding women to discuss challenges and progress in gender equality, female leadership, and the role of women in the professional sphere.

Eva Antonino emphasized the importance of female role models: “It is important to value the leadership of all of us. Girls and young women need role models. In the telecommunications sector, men still dominate, and in academia, only 25% of professionals are women.” She also highlighted the challenges faced by mothers in advancing to leadership positions without guilt: “I spent a few months abroad conducting research at a foreign university, and when I returned, my six-year-old son stopped talking to me for several weeks. As a woman and a mother, it was very painful, but I firmly believe in the need to create female role models, to show girls the importance of technology from an early age, and to make them feel capable of achieving anything.”

Other participants in the event included Adela Cortina, Director of Fundación Etnor; Marta Rebull, General Director of People and Talent at Grupo Prensa Ibérica; Mar Mestre, Director of Communication and Customer Experience at Caixa Popular; Berti Barber, Co-founder and Marketing Director of Teika; María José Valero, Co-founder of Womanation; Carla Basso de Albuquerque, Board Member of COIICV; Carmen de Rosa, President of Ateneo Mercantil; Rosana Navarro, businesswoman in the maritime sector; and Ángela Pérez, President of the Social Council of the Universitat de València.
