Vicenç Almenar was born in Valencia, Spain, in 1969. He received the Ingeniero de Telecomunicacion and PhD degrees from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) in 1993 and 1999, respectively. In 2000, he was in a postdoctoral research stay at the Centre for Communications Systems Research (CCSR), University of Surrey, U.K., where he was involved in research on synchronization techniques for OFDM systems. He is currently Associate Professor and Deputy Director at the Departamento de Comunicaciones, UPV. His current research interests include OFDM, MIMO, and signal processing techniques for wireless and optical communication systems. | |||

Eva Antonino-Daviu was born in Valencia (Spain) in 1978. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Universitat Politècnica de València, Valencia, Spain, in 2002 and 2008, respectively. In 2005, she joined the Communications Department at Universitat Politècnica de València as Assistant Professor, and in 2021 she became Full Professor at this University. In 2005 she joined the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM), where served as Vice-Director of Research between 2016 and 2019. In 2019, she became Secretary of iTEAM. In 2005 she stayed as a guest researcher at the Department of Antennas & EM Modelling of IMST (Kamp-Lintfort, Germany), at the Laboratory of Electronics, Antennas and Telecommunications (LEAT) of the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis (France) in 2018, and at the ATHENA Group of the Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, GA, USA) in 2019, where she was working on the use of additive manufacturing techniques for antenna design. Her current research interests include characteristic modes, small antennas, wideband and multi-band antenna design, additive manufacturing techniques and antenna design for MIMO, IoT and mm-wave applications. Eva Antonino-Daviu has published more than 200 papers in renowned journals and conferences in the field of antennas and propagation, as well as 2 book chapters. Moreover, she has participated and led several national and international projects with both public and private funding. Eva Antonino-Daviu is a member of the IEEE Society and a EurAAP delegate. She is Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, and IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine. She is also regular reviewer for IEEE Trans. on Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine, IEEE Trans. on Industrial Informatics and IET Microwaves, Antennas and Propagation, and since 2005 she has participated very actively in the courses of the European School of Antennas (ESoA). Between 2018 and 2021, she lead the EurAAP working group on Small Antennas (http://small-antennas.eu/), with more than 30 European institutions involved. Eva Antonino was the recipient of 2019 IEEE AP-S Lot Shafai Mid-Career Distinguished Achievement Award, for her contribution to the systematic design of antenna systems for practical applications using characteristic modes and promoting access of women to engineering. | |||

Pau Arce received his Telecommunications Engineering degree and the M.S. in Telematics from the Universidat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain, in 2005 and 2007 respectively. In 2014 he obtained his PhD in Telecommunications from the UPV. Currently he is assistant professor and works as a researcher at the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM). Carmen Bachiller Martin graduated as Bachelor in Telecommunication Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 1996, a PhD in Telecommunications from the UPV since 2010. From 1997 to 2001 she worked in the company ETRA I+D, as Project Engineer doing research and development work on systems of automated traffic control, public transport management and user information. In 2001 he started working in the Communications Department of the UPV as associate lecturer. Since 2011 she is Associate Professor. She teaches theory of electromagnetism in the ETSIT. She has participated in numerous teaching innovation projects within the University. She has been responsible for the adaptation of the EHEA ETSIT and is currently Deputy Chairs of the Business School. Her research focuses on electromagnetism and radio frequency circuits. | |||

Mariano Baquero-Escudero (S’87-M’90) was born in Murcia, Spain, on January 11, 1962. He received the degree in telecommunications engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, in 1986 and the Ph.D. degree from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Valencia, Spain, in 1994. He became a Member (M) of IEEE in 1987. He was with the Antennas, Microwave and Radar Group, UPC, from 1986 to 1988, where he worked on the development of a cylindrical near-field facility to measure a 3-D radar antenna in CESELSA. Since 1989, he has been with the UPV where he became a Full Professor in 2003. During 1995, he held a postdoctoral grant at the Joint Research Centre, European Commission, Ispra, Italy, where he developed high-resolution algorithms for radar applications. From April 1996 to February 1998, he was a Vice-Dean of the Telecommunications Engineering School of Valencia. He is currently with the Communications Department and into the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Application of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. His main research interests include microwave circuit and antenna analysis, design and measurement. | |||

Vicente Enrique Boria Esbert nace en Valencia, España, el 18 de Mayo de 1970. Es Ingeniero de Telecomunicación desde 1993, y Doctor Ingeniero de Telecomunicación desde 1997, habiendo obtenido ambos títulos en la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Valencia, España.En 1993 se incorpora al Departamento de Comunicaciones de la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, donde es Catedrático de Universidad desde Octubre de 2003. Durante 1995 y 1996 disfrutó de una Beca de Formación de Personal Investigador, concedida por el Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia, que desarrolló en el Centro Europeo de Tecnología e Investigación Espacial (ESTEC) que la Agencia Europea del Espacio (ESA) tiene en Noordwijk (Países Bajos). Durante dicho periodo trabajó en temas de análisis electromagnético y diseño de dispositivos pasivos en guía de ondas para aplicaciones espaciales.Sus líneas actuales de investigación se centran en el desarrollo de métodos numéricos para el análisis, síntesis y diseño automatizado de componentes pasivos implementados en tecnologías de guía de ondas, planares e híbridas, así como basados en estructuras periódicas y/o medios zurdos. También trabaja en la simulación y medida de los efectos de ruptura (multipactor y corona) y no lineales (Inter-modulación pasiva) que aparecen en aplicaciones de alta potencia. En todas estas áreas de trabajo ha publicado hasta la fecha 7 capítulos de libro, 80 artículos en revistas técnicas internacionales de alto índice de impacto, y más de 150 contribuciones en conferencias de carácter nacional e internacional (actuando como ponente invitado en varias ocasiones). Ha supervisado un total de 10 Tesis Doctorales en la materia, y dirigido más de 30 Proyectos de I+D financiados con fondos públicos y privados (empresas del sector). Es también revisor de las revistas más relevantes de las sociedades IEEE e IET en el ámbito de las técnicas y aplicaciones de las microondas, así como miembro de los Comités Técnicos del Simposium Internacional de Microondas (IEEE-MTT) y de la Conferencia Europea de las Microondas (EuMC).En 2006 cofunda la empresa de base tecnológica “AuroraSAT”, donde es Asesor Científico en técnicas de simulación electromagnética y métodos de diseño automatizado de componentes pasivos guiados para aplicaciones de alta frecuencia. Prof. Ignacio Bosch was born in Valencia (Spain) in 1975. He received the Ingeniero de Telecomunicación and the Doctor Ingeniero de Telecomunicación degrees from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV) in 2001 and 2005 respectively. In 2004 he became a lecturer in the Departamento de Comunicaciones. From 2006 until now he has been working as an Asociate Professor at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Telecomunicaciones de Valencia. He is member of the Institute of Telecommunication and Multimedia Applications (I-TEAM) of UPV. He is responsible of developing algorithms and systems for infrared signal processing surveillance. His research interests are signal processing applications for ultrasonic systems in non-destructive evaluation and infrared signal processing for automatic fire detection. He has been actively participating in forty-four research projects and/or research contracts. He has published more than 60 papers including journals and conference contributions. | |||

José Capmany was born in Madrid, Spain, on December 15 1962. He received the Ingeniero de Telecomunicacion degree from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) in 1987 and the Licenciado en Ciencias Físicas in 2009. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from UPM and a PhD in Quantum Physics from the Universidad de Vigo. Since 1991 he is with the Departamento de Comunicaciones, Universidad Politecnica de Valencia (UPV), where he started the activities on optical communications and photonics, founding the Optical Communications Group (www.gco.upv.es). He has been an Associate Professor from 1992 to 1996, and Full Professor in optical communications, systems, and networks since 1996. In parallel, he has been Telecommunications Engineering Faculty Vice-Dean from 1991 to 1996, and Deputy Head of the Communications Department since 1996. Since 2002, he is the Director of the ITEAM Research Institute, Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. His research activities and interests cover a wide range of subjects related to optical communications including optical signal processing, ring resonators, fiber gratings, RF filters, SCM, WDM, and CDMA transmission, wavelength conversion, optical bistability and more recently quantum cryptography and quantum information processing using photonics. He has published over 450 papers in international refereed journals and conferences and has been a member of the Technical Programme Committees of the European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC), the Optical Fiber Conference (OFC), the Integrated Optics and Optical Communications Conference (IOOC), CLEO Europe, and the Optoelectronics and Communications Conference (OECC). Professor Capmany has also carried out activities related to professional bodies. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Optical Society of America (OSA) and the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE). He has acted as a reviewer for over 25 SCI journals in the field of photonics and telecommunications. Professor Capmany is the recipient of King James I award on novel technologies 2012, the highest scientific distinction in Spain. He has also received other wards including the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 1992. He is an associate Editor of IEEE Photonics Technology Letters and is a Member of the Editorial Board of Fiber and Integrated Optics, Microwave and Optical Technology Letters. Prof. Narcís Cardona nació en Barcelona. Obtuvo el título de M.S. en Ingenieria de las Comunicaciones en la ETSI Telecomunicaciones de la Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña en 1990 y el Ph.D. en Telecomunicaciones en la Universitat Politècnica de València en 1995. Desde Octubre de 1990 pertenece al Departamento de Comunicaciones de la Universitat Politècnica de València. El profesor Cardona dirige el Grupo de Comunicaciones Móviles del iTeAM con alrededor de 30 investigadores incluyendo profesores e investigadores. Además, es director del Master en Comunicaciones Móviles desde 2006 y Director del instituto de investigación iTeAM desde 2016. Narcis Cardona ha participado y liderado proyectos de investigación, tanto nacionales como europeos, Redes de Excelencia y otros foros de investigación, siempre en temas relacionados con las comunicaciones móviles. A escala europea, ha sido Vice-chairman del COST273 Action, Chair del WG3 del COST2100 en el area de las redes de acceso radio, Chairman del EU Action COST IC1004 y Vice-Chairman de COST IC15104 IRACON desde Marzo de 2016. El profesor Cardona es también miembro del Consejo Directivo del METIS (FP7), y METIS-II (H2020), proyecto de 5GPP sobre las tecnologias de las futuras comunicaciones móviles y de la Red Europea WIBEC en tecnologías médicas inalámbricas. En referencia a su trabajo investigador, Narcis Cardona es autor de 10 patentes, varios libros y más de 200 publicaciones. Santiago Cogollos was born in Valencia, Spain, on January 15, 1972. He received the degree in telecommunication engineering and the Ph. D. degree from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Valencia, Spain, in 1996 and 2002, respectively. In 2000 he joined the Communications Department of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where he was an Assistant Lecturer from 2000 to 2001, a Lecturer from 2001 to 2002, and became an Associate Professor in 2002. He has collaborated with the European Space Research and Technology Centre of the European Space Agency in the development of modal analysis tools for payload systems in satellites. In 2003, Dr. Santiago Cogollos received from the Spanish Association of Telecommunication Engineers the prize to the best doctoral thesis on the topic “Fundamentals and Basic Technologies of Information and Communications and their Applications”. In the same year he was awarded from the Polytechnic University of Valencia with the special prize for his doctoral thesis “Modal Characterisation of Arbitrary Waveguides and Application to Microwave Devices”. In 2005, Dr. Santiago Cogollos held a post doctoral research position working in the area of advanced synthesis techniques in microwave filter design and collaborated in teaching activities related with satellite communication systems at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of Waterloo (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada). His current research interests include applied electromagnetics, mathematical methods for electromagnetic theory, analytical and numerical methods for the analysis of waveguide structures, and design of passive components for space applications. | |||

Maria de Diego received the M.Sc. degree in telecommunications engineering and the Ph.D degree from the Universitat Politècnica de València, Valencia, Spain, in 1994 and 2003, respectively. She is currently working as an Associate Professor in digital signal processing and communications and a Researcher with the GTAC Group, Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications, Universitat Politècnica de València. She has been involved in over 25 research projects financed by public funds, and she has led several of them. Her Ph.D research was mainly on adaptive equalization algorithms with applications to multifrequency noise control in enclosed spaces. Her postdoctoral research involved the development of signal processing algorithms for sound applications. She has also published some works on the topic of signal processing for communications. She is author of more than 28 journal papers listed in the Journal Citation Reports, and around 48 conference papers. She is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Member of the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV), having been elected to the board of directors during the period 2015 to 2019. Moreover, Dr. de Diego currently serves as Associate editor in the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language. Her research interests have involved the following areas: active noise control and equalization systems, distributed sound processing, non-linear adaptive filtering, audio applications over wireless acoustic networks and finally sound quality and psychoacoustics. Her scientific objectives in a short term are focused on the development of intelligent sound applications in real-life scenes for in-door and out-door environments. | |||

Héctor Esteban González se graduó como Ingeniero de Telecomunicación en 1996 y como Doctor Ingeniero de Telecomunicación en 2002 por la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. En 1996 realizó una estancia en el Joint Research Centre de la Comisión Europea, en Ispra, Italia, donde trabajó en la caracterización electromagnética de cubiertas vegetales. En 1997 inció sus estudios de doctorado en el European Topic Center on Soil de la Agencia Europea de Medio Ambiente en el desarrollo de una base de datos georeferenciada de riesgos de desertificación. En 1998 volvió a la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia como profesor Asociado, y actualmente es profesor Titular de Universidad, y está acreditado al cuerpo de Catedráticos de Universidad. Director del Departamento de Comunicaciones y Director del Máster Universitario en Tecnologías, Sistemas y Redes de Comunicaciones. Su principal línea de investigación es el desarrollo de métodos de análisis y diseño de antenas y dispositivos pasivos de comunicaciones de alta frecuencia, aunque también ha trabajado en la caracterización electromagnética de materiales dieléctricos y magnéticos, y la aceleración de métodos de análisis electromagnéticos mediante wavelets y el método rápido de los multipolos (FMM). | |||

Miguel Ferrando Bataller nació en Alcoy (Alicante) en 1954. Es Ingeniero de Telecomunicación (Barcelona 1977) y Doctor Ingeniero de Telecomunicaciones por la Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña, (Barcelona 1982). Desde 1977 a 1982 fue profesor Ayudante, Encargado de curso y Titular en el grupo de Antenas, Microondas y Radar, en la Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña. En 1990 empezó su etapa en la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia donde fué director de la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación, Vicerrector de Ordenación Académica y Profesorado y Director del Centro de Formación Permanente. Imparte docencia en Antenas, Comunicaciones por Satélite y Electromagnetismo Avanzado. Ha dirigido 15 Tesis doctorales. Su investigación actual gira entorno a métodos numéricos, diseño de antenas y actividades de tele-educación y e-learning. | |||

Miguel Ferrando-Rocher es Ingeniero de Telecomunicaciones por la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Valencia, España, desde 2012 y doctor ingeniero desde 2018. En 2012, se unió al Equipo de Sistemas de Radiación Complejos del Instituto de Electrónica y Telecomunicaciones de Rennes (Francia) como investigador, donde participó en antenas reflectarray para aplicaciones satelitales en colaboración con Thales Alenia Space. En 2016, se unió a la Universidad Tecnológica de Chalmers, Gotemburgo, Suecia, como investigador invitado. Desde 2013, es investigador en el Antennas and Propagation Laboratory (APL) del Instituto de Telecomunicaciones y Aplicaciones Multimedia de la UPV. Sus intereses de investigación actuales incluyen la comunicaciones por satélite en movimiento (SATCOM-on-the-move), arrays de alta ganancia en tecnología Gap Waveguide (GW) y componentes de ondas milimétricas. El Dr. Ferrando-Rocher recibió el Premio al Mejor Joven Investigador de España en el campo de las antenas y la propagación en la Conferencia URSI en 2017. En 2019, además, recibió de Premio COIT-AEIT del Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación (COIT) y la Asociación Española de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación (AEIT). Su tesis doctoral basada en nuevas soluciones de antenas en la banda de milimétricas para comunicaciones por satélite fue galardonada con el premio AIRBUS Space and Defense (2019) y con el Premio Extraordinario de Tesis Doctorales de la Universitat Politècnica de València (2020). Durante su formación, recibió una beca Erasmus para estudiar en la Universidad de Gante (Bélgica) en 2010. Desde 2018 a 2021 fue además el Chief Innovation Officer de Stratolloon, una start-up que innovó en el negocio de la investigación a alta altitud y reconocida con importantes premios nacionales e internacionales. De septiembre de 2019 a 2022 fue Profesor Ayudante Doctor en la Universidad de Alicante (UA), dentro del departamento de Física, Ingeniería de Sistemas y Teoría de la Señal. Desde 2023, es Profesor Titular del Departamento de Comunicaciones de la Universitat Politècnica de Valéncia. También colabora con el Grupo de Electromagnetismo Computacional Aplicado y Microondas (GMECA) de la Universidad de Alicante en sus actividades. Miguel Ferrer Contreras graduated in Telecommunications Engineering in the year 2000 at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), Spain. He was collaborating with the Audio and Communications Signal Processing Group (GTAC) since a year before, performing a six months research stay in the Instituto de Investigación Aplicada al Automóvil, Tarragona, Spain (Automobile Applied Research Institute). Subsequently, he was awarded several grants offered both by the Communications Department of the UPV and by the Research, Development and Innovation Vice-Chancellery of the same university, enabling him to start his Doctorate studies and to collaborate in different research projects within the GTAC. During this period he has authored or co-authored over twenty papers related with signal processing in renowned journals and conferences. Since 2005 he works as an assistant lecturer in the Communications Department of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). His research activity is focused on the study of adaptive algorithms and its application to audio digital processing and noise active control, a subject about which he is developing his doctoral thesis. | |||

Ivana Gasulla is an Associate Professor, (previously, Distinguished Researcher and Ramon y Cajal Fellow) at the ITEAM Research Institute of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). In 2016, she was awarded a prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant to develop new Space-Division Multiplexing technologies for emergent fiber-wireless communications through the project InnoSpace. Ivana Gasulla received the M.Sc. and the Ph.D. degrees from UPV, respectively, in 2005 and 2008. Her PhD thesis, focused on broadband radio over multimode fiber transmission, was recognized with the IEEE/LEOS Graduate Student Fellowship Award. In 2012 she was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to carry out research on spatial division multiplexing at Stanford University. Back to ITEAM in 2014, her current research interests encompass the application of multimode and multicore fibers to Microwave Photonics systems. David Gomez-Barquero is an Associate Professor at the Communications Department of the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia (UPV), Spain, where he leads a research group at the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM) working on next generation wireless communication technologies, including broadcasting. He received with First Class Honors distinction a double M.Sc. degree in telecommunications engineering from the UPV and the University of Gävle, Sweden, in 2004, and the Ph.D. degree in telecommunications from the UPV in 2009. During his doctoral studies he was a guest researcher at the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, the University of Turku, Finland, and the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany. He also did an internship at Ericsson Eurolab, Germany. His Ph.D. thesis was awarded by the Spanish College of Telecommunications Engineering, and in 2010 he was awarded with the best young researcher prize of Valencia. He carried out a 2-year post-doc at the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI), Germany. He also held visiting research appointments at the Sergio Arboleda University, Colombia, as Visiting Professor, the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), USA, as a Research Scholar, and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Korea, as a Guest Researcher. Prof. Gomez-Barquero has been actively participating during the last decade in the standardization of wireless broadcasting technologies. He participated in the validation of the second generation digital terrestrial TV technology DVB-T2, and in the standardization processes of its mobile profile T2-Lite and its handheld evolution DVB-NGH. He also contributed to the DVB-T2 implementation guidelines, and co-edited the DVB implementation guidelines on upper layer forward error correction. He participated in the standardization process of the next-generation broadcast TV standard ATSC 3.0, acting as Vice-Chairman of the Modulation and Coding ad-hoc group. Currently, his research is focused on 5G, and is the project coordinator of three European H2020 projects: 5G-RECORDS on 5G content production (www.5g-records.eu), FUDGE-5G on cloud-native private 5G networks (www.fudge-5g.eu) and iNGENIOUS on next-generation 5G-based IoT (www.ingenious-iot.eu). Previously he coordinated the H2020 5G-Xcast project that developed broadcast and multicast technology components for 5G (www.5g-xcast.eu). He led the first live television content production using exclusively 5G (standalone network) with Orange, ZTE and the Spanish Public Broadcaster RTVE during the EUCNC 2019 conference. Dr. Gomez-Barquero has published over 200 scientific papers (H-index 30, over 3.000 citations), holds 4 international patents, and has participated in many technical program committees of international conferences. He is the editor of the book “Next Generation Mobile Broadcasting” from CRC Press (Taylor and Francis Group), an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting. Alberto González Salvador works as Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain. Marco Guglielmi nació en Roma, Italia, en 1954. Obtuvo el título "Laurea in Ingegneria Elettronica" en 1979 por la Universidad de Roma "La Sapienza", Italia. En 1981 fue galardonado con una beca Fulbright en Roma, Italia, y un HISP (Programa de becas “Halsey International”) de la Universidad de Bridgeport, Bridgeport, Connecticut, EE.UU., donde en 1982 se graduó en Ingeniería Eléctrica. En 1986 se doctoró en “Electrofísica” por la Universidad Politécnica, Brooklyn, Nueva York (EE.UU.). De 1984 a 1986 fue Profesor asociado en la Universidad Politécnica, y de 1986 a 1988 fue profesor adjunto en la misma institución. En el período de 1988 a 1989 fue profesor ayudante en el Instituto Tecnológico de Nueva Jersey, Newark, Nueva Jersey (EE.UU.). Posteriormente, en 1989 se unió a la de la Agencia Espacial Europea (ESA) como Ingeniero Microondas principal en la División de RF Sistema del Centro de Investigación y Tecnología Espacial Europea (ESTEC), Noordwijk, Países Bajos, donde estuvo a cargo del desarrollo de filtros de microondas y herramientas de simulación electromagnética. En 2001 fue nombrado “Jefe de la Sección de Estrategia Tecnológica” de ESTEC donde contribuyó al desarrollo de los procesos y herramientas para la formulación de una estrategia europea sobre la tecnología espacial de Investigación y Desarrollo. Dr. Guglielmi ha sido elevado al grado de Fellow del IEEE en enero de 2013 por “sus contribuciones a las redes multimodo equivalentes y al diseño de filtros de microondas”". R. Miralles was born in Valencia (Spain) in 1971. He received the Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 1995 and the Ph.D. degree in Telecommunication Engineering in 2000 from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). In 1996 he became a lecturer in the Escuela Politécnica Superior de Gandia (Valencia). Since 2000, he has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Escuela Tecnica Superior de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación (Valencia). He is responsible for the development of algorithms and systems for nondestructive testing in the alimentary industry using ultrasound and for passive acoustic detection of cetaceans. He joined the Institute of Telecommunication and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM) of UPV where he is part of the management team. His research interests are higher order statistics, nonlinear signal processing, signal processing applications for ultrasonic systems and bioacustic signal processing. Dr.-Ing. Jose F. Monserrat (H-index 21) received his MSc. degree with High Honors and Ph.D. degree in Telecommunications engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) in 2003 and 2007, respectively. He was the recipient of the First Regional Prize of Engineering Studies in 2003 for his outstanding student record receiving also the Best Thesis Prize from the UPV in 2008. In 2009 he was awarded with the best young researcher prize of Valencia. In 2016 he received the merit medal from the Spanish royal academy of engineering, in the young researcher category. He is currently an associate professor in the Communications Department of the UPV. His current research focuses on the design of future 5G wireless systems and their performance assessment. He has been involved in several European Projects, being especially significant his participation in NEWCOM, PROSIMOS, WINNER+, METIS/METIS-II where he led the simulation activities, and currently 5G-XCAST. He also participated in 2010 in one external evaluation group within ITU-R on the performance assessment of the candidates for the future family of standards IMT-Advanced. He co-edited two special issues in IEEE Communications Magazine on IMT-Advanced and 5G technologies and is co-editor of the Wiley book “Mobile and wireless communications for IMT-Advanced and beyond” and the Cambridge book “5G Mobile and Wireless Communications Technology”. Dr. Pascual Muñoz received Ph.D. degree from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) on 2003. He is a Full Professor at the Departamento de Comunicaciones, UPV, and a researcher at ITEAM. Dr. Muñoz has consolidated a research line, started in 2005, on Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) in a technology agnostic fashion, where PICs are designed in the best suited technology (Silicon-On-Insulator, Indium Phosphide, Silica on Silicon, Silicon Nitride) for each application. He has been involved in several EC funded projects, being coordinator for integration on InP within the NoE IST-EPIXNET. He has published over 25 papers in international refereed journals and conferences and is a member of the Technical Programme Committee of the European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC). Dr. Muñoz received the VPI Speed Up Photonics Award in 2002 for innovative Fourier optics AWG with multimode interference (MMI) couplers modeling. He was also granted the IEEE/LEOS Graduate Student Fellowship Program in 2002. He received the doctorate prize from UPV in 2006. Prof. Beatriz Ortega was born in Valencia, Spain, in 1972. She received the M.Sc. degree in Physics in 1995 from the Universidad de Valencia, and the Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering in 1999 from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. She joined the Departamento de Comunicaciones at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia in 1996 as a Lecturer and she got her Full Professorship in 2009 on Optical Communications. From 1997 to 1998, she joined the Optoelectronics Research Centre, at the University of Southampton (United Kingdom), where she was involved in several projects developing new add-drop filters and twin-core fibre-based filters. My research career at photonics technologies started at 1993 when joined the Optical Communication Group as researcher and the Communication Department at Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) as lecturer and PhD student. From 1994 to 1998 I was a lecturer at the Telecommunications Engineering Faculty and I became an Associate Professor in 1999. I obtained a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications by the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain in 1996. The topic of my Thesis was “Redes de Difracción sobre Fibra Óptica para Procesado de Señales Fotónicas”. I am co-author of more than 225 papers in journals and international conferences in the fields of Optical Delay Line Filters, Fiber Bragg Gratings, Microwave Photonics, WDM and SCM lightwave systems, Optical Fiber Sensors, Silicon Nitride integrated devices for telecom and sensing, and advanced characterization techniques as Optical Frequency Domain Reflectrometry. I have been leader/co researcher (IP) of 3 national projects, related with Metro and Access optical Networks (TEL1999-0437 from 31/12/99 to 31/12/02), and Optical Code Division Multiple Access networks and devices (OCDMA), (TEC2004-04754-01/TCM from 13/12/04 to 13/12/07 and TEC2009-12169 from 01/01/2010 to 31/6/2013), and co-IP in 3 national projects related with Photonic Integrated Technology, Photonic Integrated Filters for Enhanced Signal Processing (TEC2013-42332-P), Silicon Nitride integrated Spectrometers (TEC2016-80385-P) and Plataforma Hibrida Nitruro de Silicio para Circuitos Ópticos Integrados (PID2019-110877GB-I00). I have been leader also of different work packages in european projects as IST-LABELS (Ligthwave Architectures for the processing of Broadband Electronics Signals), or IST-GLAMOROUS (Glass-based modulators, Routers and Switches). She is currently a Professor at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. Since 1992 she has worked in private and public-funding projects on different research topics: array signal processing, adaptive algorithms for active noise control, mobile communications and sound quality. She is part of the Audio and Communications Signal Processing (GTAC) group of the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM) of Valencia. She has published more than 80 contributions in relevant journals and conferences on the area.
